About Laser:

Is the laser hair removal procedure painful?

Our lasers utilize a special patented cooling system that lowers the temperature of the skin at the procedure site before, during, and after laser exposure. It is almost painless. No local anaesthesia or pain medication is required, but for more sensitive areas, a topical anaesthetic cream can be used.

How many treatements are required for laser hair removal?

The number of treatments necessary is varied for every customer. It may take multiple treatments for visible hair reduction as there are several cycles of hair growth and a certain number of hairs may only be growing at a particular time. The optimum number of treatments is usually between six and ten. The thickness and pigment of the hairs also determine how effective the treatment is and how many sessions will be needed. The more contrast there is between the colour of the skin and the colour of the hair, the more effective the treatment.

How long does it take for hair to shed after a laser treatment?

It will take up to two weeks for the hair to shed following treatment with the GentleLASE and up to three weeks following a GentleYAG treatment.

How deep does the laser penetrate into the skin?

The depth of laser penetration is changeable. Depth depends on wavelength. The longer the wavelength, the deeper the penetration.

Will the laser be harmful to organs and lymph nodes?

No, neither the organs nor the lymph nodes should absorb the laser light due to the limited depth of penetration.

What is the interval between laser treatments?

Typically most treatments are 4-6 weeks apart. However, this will depend on the indication being treated and where on the body the treatment is being performed. For hair reduction, treatments for the face, underarms and bikini areas should be performed every 4-6 weeks, while treatments for the trunk of the body are usually necessary every 8-10 weeks. Treatments for the extremities should be performed every 10-12 weeks.

Is there a guarantee with the hair removal?

Clinical studies have depicted an 80-90% success rate in laser hair reduction.

What should I expect following the laser hair removal procefure?

Once the laser hair removal procedure is complete you are free to return to your normal activities immediately. Some clients may experience a slight reddening around the hair follicles immediately following the procedure. This reaction typically disappears within a few hours. The use of sunscreen at or above 25 SPF is recommended on all skin areas exposed to the sun for approximately the next four weeks following the laser procedure. It is also recommended that the client avoid heavy sun exposure for the next four weeks. Application of ice or aloe gel after the procedure will generally facilitate healing and cooling. Approximately two weeks after the laser hair removal procedure the body will exfoliate the dead hairs.

Are there any side effects with laser hair removal?

Most clients experience a mild stinging or burning sensation when the laser pulse is delivered and some may experience a slight reddening of the skin or local swelling. This typically disappears within a short period of time from anywhere between a couple of hours to a couple of days.

Are the results of laser hair removal permanent?

The FDA has cleared the GentleMax Pro and Clarity II laser for permanent hair reduction. Since lasers have only been used for hair removal for approximately 20 years, it is difficult to predict the effects of the procedure and how long it will last. However, studies have shown that clients are usually hair free and satisfied with the results.

About Candela:

What is Candela GentleMax Pro?

The Candela GentleMax Pro is a game changer in the field of high-speed laser hair removal and skin rejuvenation. Its dual wavelength allows practitioners to treat a multitude of skin concerns with no downtime. The system combines the power of 755 nm Alexandrite laser with 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser to provide safe, comfortable, quick, and effective cosmetic solution to a wide array of skin conditions with a single beam of laser light.

How candela GentleMax Pro Works?

The Candela GentleMax Pro’s laser beam passes through the deeper layer of the skin and is absorbed in the hair follicle. This in turn produces an adequate amount of heat energy and destroys the hair follicle, resulting in permanent hair removal. For skin rejuvenation treatments, the Candela GentleMax Pro’s laser energy stimulates the production of collagen, resulting in skin cell renewal. This process replaces old skin cells with new, healthy skin cells, resulting in healthier, radiant, and younger-looking skin.

Is Candela GentleMax Pro Safe?

The treatment is safe and effective for all skin types. This is because Candela GentleMax Pro’s patented Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD) technology allows it to deliver consistent bursts of protective cryogen (a substance that produces very low temperature) while preventing thermal damage in the treatment area. In addition, its Air Cooling Compatible (ACC) technology improves patient comfort by directing cold air into the area.

What happens during a Candela GentleMax Pro Treatment?

Candela GentleMax Pro will first emit a pulse of cooling spray in the treatment area to protect it against burn and improve comfort. A pulse of laser light will then be emitted in order to target hair follicles or simulate skin cell renewal. A tolerable stinging sensation is normal and is a desired clinical outcome as the therapeutic heat is being absorbed by the skin tissue. The treatment can take 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the existing skin condition, treated area, and desired cosmetic goals.

Your Appointment:

What should I do before the procefure?

You must thoroughly shave your hair preferably the same day of the procedure. Avoid indoor or outdoor tanning and use of self tanning products for approximately four weeks. Do not wax, tweeze dye hair or have electrolysis two weeks prior to the procedure. Avoid skin care products with irritants such as Glycolic Acid or Retin-A in the procedure area for about a week.

When treating legs for hair reduction, do they need to be cleanly shaven?

Yes, all areas of the body that are being treated need to be cleanly shaven. Treatment areas should be shaved the day prior to treatment. Any hair remaining above the skin surface will absorb light that is intended for the hair follicle.

Is there a guarantee with the hair removal?

Clinical studies have depicted an 80-90% success rate in laser hair reduction. However, every patient responds differently to laser treatments and consequently, there is no guarantee.
